We are pleased to announce that our speech and language pathologist Susan Fawcett has been added to the Registry of Autism Service Providers. This means that families who receive funding for autism can now purchase DSRF speech and language services. Susan has significant experience working with children, youth and adults with various disabilities including autism.
Based on the results from our speech survey, effective immediately the DSRF is moving from the block system we have currently used to an indefinite ongoing therapy schedule. The rate is $60.00 per session. There is an additional fee for reports ($150) and assessments ($400). Please note first time students will receive an initial assessment at no additional cost. Ongoing speech sessions will be booked two months at a time.
We are also offering paired sessions – this format is very popular for youth and young adults who require additional support in social conversation. There is a maximum of 2 students at any time – the fee is $50 per student. We can pair students or families may chose speech partners directly.
We are also pleased to introduce two new programs:
Chat Pack
Chat Pack is a social group for adolescents and adults aimed at developing and enhancing social language skills in a peer supported setting. This 6 week program will be held every Friday and led by a Speech-Language Pathologist with the assistance of volunteers. Participants will go on mini-field trips to 4 different social settings where they will have opportunities to not only converse with each other but also with the people they naturally encounter in the community. The rate is $250 per 6 week session.
Preschool Speech and Social Program
Our Preschool Speech and Social Program is a unique program designed to promote social engagement and language skills in young children (30 months to 6 years of age). The class is led by our speech and language pathologist and runs twice a week for 45 minutes. Program fee is $200 per month ($150 if the student is enrolled in the Early Foundations Preschool) and runs from September to June.
