DSRF Library Services

Hours of Operation : Monday to Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm (PST)

Annual Fee : The $40 annual DSRF membership fee includes borrowing privileges of library materials. Click here to become a member of the DSRF.

Services : The library is open to the general public for reference purposes, only current registered members may borrow materials from the collection.  Services are available on a cost recovery basis to:

  • researchers working in the field of developmental disabilities
  • Canadian Down syndrome service organizations
  • doctors and other medical caregivers
  • other persons approved by the Down Syndrome Research Foundation's Librarian

Borrowing Privileges : Registered patrons may borrow library materials. Please contact the librarian to search the holdings in the collection.   
Books
In Vancouver / Lower Mainland : three weeks plus one renewal of two weeks
Outside of the Lower Mainland : four weeks plus one renewal of two weeks
NB : No renewals of books if there is a hold placed on the book

Audiovisual materials
In Vancouver / Lower Mainland : one week plus one renewal of one week
Outside of the Lower Mainland : two weeks plus one renewal of one week
NB : No renewals of books if there is a hold placed on the book

Late Returns
Borrowers will receive a reminder of overdue books. The daily fine will be 50¢ per day. Lost or damaged books: An invoice will be sent to the borrower for the replacement cost of the material

Journal Article Copying
The office photocopier may be used to copy material. Members will be charged 10¢ per page, with non-members paying 20¢ per page.

Interlibrary Loan
The library provides an interlibrary loan service for members and non-members requesting articles from our collection. Books are loaned to institutions outside of British Columbia at the discretion of the librarian.
Member ILL requests : $5.00 for up to 15 pages $7.50 for 16 pages and greater.
External ILL requests : $10 for up to 15 pages $15 for 16 pages and greater.

Computer Access
The library has two computers that are used to access our catalogue and also websites on the Internet. Members will be charged 10¢ per page for printing from the Internet. Non-members will be charged 20¢ per page for printing from the Internet.

Reference Questions
