Articulating thoughts through words is a difficult task to master. The complexity of language is a key reason that speech generation is challenging for people with Down syndrome - yet, communication skills are vital for successful community inclusion. The Speech and Language Development Services offered by DSRF are specially-designed intervention programs that assist people with Down syndrome in overcoming these challenges. A fun and friendly recreational environment with resources used to facilitate laughter while provideing an age-appropriate environment for learning. Our one-on-one approach effectively enhances language development in people with Down syndrome of all ages. Led by our certified speech-language pathologist, participants are actively encouraged to develop a variety of skills enabling their potential. Particular focus is placed on the positive reinforcement during activities involving language, speech intelligibility and social communication. DSRF’s Speech and Language Services are helping to improve language and communication development in people with Down syndrome of all ages. Dates: 5 blocks offered per year each consisting of 8 sessions at 45 minutes per session.
