The Down Syndrome Research Foundation offers a series of workshops entitled Planning for the Future.  The workshops are designed to provide relevant information to assist families who have a child with special needs. The goal is to help parents prepare for the financial, residential, and personal support needs for their adult children.   

A workshop on future planning can be provided in your community. Please email either Robert Melrose or Joy Hayden or call the Down Syndrome Research Foundation office at 604-444-3773 for further information. 

In 2008, workshops were held in Burnaby and Surrey with experts from the community speaking on the topics listed below. One day workshops were held outside of the lower mainland in Parksville, 100 Mile House and Williams Lake. 

Under each workshop topic is the bibliography of online resources created, in PDF format, for the attendees. The bibliographies have been recently updated to include the new provincial ministries responsible for the provision of service.
