DSRF Principal Investigators conduct research relating to behavioral development and disability over the life span. Their studies address basic questions spanning molecular to behavioral science as well as questions aimed at understanding the nature of disability and enhancing the lives of affected individuals.
DSRF Principal Investigators maintain a continuing involvement in the development of the research program of the DSRF and constitute the core of its scientific staff. Their research utilizes DSRF resources such as the population registry, the medical clinic, educational programs for special populations, or the brain imagining facilities of the MEG laboratory.
DSRF Principal Investigators contribute to governance at the DSRF through participation in standing committees of the DSRF and its Board of Directors, by participation in group grants on behalf of the DSRF, and similar roles. Typically, DSRF Principal Investigators hold faculty or staff appointments at major universities and hospitals in Canada. They cite their affiliation with the DRSF where appropriate. Appointments as DSRF Principal Investigator are confirmed by the Board of Directors of the DSRF upon the recommendation of the Research Committee of the Board, and are reviewed every three years.
