World Down Syndrome Day 2025
Your guide to celebrating World Down Syndrome Day in the Vancouver area
On March 21, the worldwide Down syndrome community will join together to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day and call on governments to “Improve Our Support Systems.”
People with Down syndrome need support to live and be included in the community, like everyone else. Families also need support, as they are often supporting their family member with Down syndrome. Support is a key human right that helps make other rights possible.
The support that we need is different for each person. We have the right to support that meets our needs and gives us choice, control and dignity.
Here are all the ways you can join us in celebrating World Down Syndrome Day and spreading this important message:
Better the Benefit: A Speaking Out Video Project
DSRF’s Speaking Out students join other Canadians with disabilities in urging the federal government to improve the Canada Disability Benefit. Watch for our advocacy video on March 21 on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Bluesky and LinkedIn.
Community Videos: Improve our Supports!
Submit a video urging our government to improve support for people with Down syndrome. Choose from two topics:
- Canada Disability Benefit
- Supports for children and youth with Down syndrome in BC
