* Eligibility Criteria for Having a Child and Youth with Special Needs Social Worker in BC:
- Age 0-19
- Resident of BC
- “3 Streams” for Eligibility:
- Documented Developmental Disability
- DSM IV Criteria for “Mental Retardation”
- DSM V Criteria for “Intellectual Disability”
- Diagnosed with Autism/Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Assessed as Eligible for the At Home Program
- Documented Developmental Disability
Please note: Foundational programs such as infant development, supported child development, and school age therapies are available to all children with Down syndrome, regardless of whether or not you qualify for a social worker. However, these programs are voluntary and family driven, meaning they will not contact you, you need to contact them and request the services.
